KWD vs Eclipse BOX-IT (34-56)

A fast pace saw a competitive start to this match. Eclipse made a lot of impact in centre court with fast interaction between their speedy C and WD. At half time they had a healthy lead and made changes to their defence. KWD took full advantage of this and had a fantastic 3rd quarter with Helen Harkess holding her space to receive her feeds with ease. The last quarter saw Eclipse pull out their strongest format to take away the danger of KWD's comeback. This turn of events was KWD's end in the game as an untimely fortune of events saw them loose defender Sarah Whitby to injury and leaving hardworking Cerrie Perrett to hold the excellent Eclipse shooters back as best as she could. 5 minutes later KWD lost Ali Oliver in a crashing interception which meant her also leaving the court leavin KWD with 5 players. Eclipse increased their lead for a healthy win.

KWD vs Covergirl Academy (50-20)

THe first matches after the Christmas break got off to a good start for KWD with a much needed win. They look confident and showed good form despite a long gap since their last match together. The strong combination of Cerrie Perret and Sarah Whitby gave an excellent performance in defence. They gave a calmcontrolled performance and used good team work to keep an energetic Tammy Aldridge as far away from the shooting area as they could. Despite this there were some excellent long shots in from CGirls shooters. The game was played at a steady pace with well timed moves and some great interceptions. Helen Harkess gave a superb performance and rarely missed a goal for KWD.

LED Synergy vs Simply ACES (49-20)

LED synergy started the match strong despite being a player short and they dominated the game in defence and in the shooting circle. Simply ACES couldn't find a way around LED's defence to get the final ball into the shooters. LED Synergy's centre Kelly Waites had a superb game, she made endless interceptions and moved the ball down the court quickly and didn't show any signs of tiredness. LED synergy took a comfortable win 49-20

Vernham Vixens third match of the season was against Arrows Yellow. They were a young side, compared to Vixens! It was a friendly but competitive game. At the end of 1st quarter Eclipse let by one goal 5-4. Aces (GK) Sue Evans worked hard to keep the defense tight. The 2nd quarter Eclipse stepped up their game and were very quick around the court with some excellent centre play and pulled away to led 21-13. KWD vs ADN 1 (38-29)

With an even confident start from both team, it looked like this match was wide open to both teams. Lyndsey Hutchinson lead ADN with a determined and well drilled approach. Feeds around the circle were varied and well rehearsed, although KWD's Cerrie Perrett was quick to catch onto their game and applied enough pressure with Nat Barnes to slow down the goals and give her team the chance to pull ahead. Helen Harkess was back on amazing form. She consistently held her position whilst under pressure from a tight marking ADN defence. This enabled her to receive accurate and at times tight feeds from her team mate Ali Oliver WA. The Avenue were unable to catch up with their opposition but have proved that they belong in Div 1 with a very well played match

KWD vs Simply Health (30-31)

Simplyhealth managed to keep ahead throughout this friendly and exciting game against a below par KWD. Mel Davies owned the court and did everything she could to intercept simplyhealths ball to get it back to her shooters. KWD stepped up their game in the 4th quarter which was concerning for simplyhealth as they were 2 goals down with a few minutes to go but some great support and communication from Kim Belbin (GS) gave herself and Paula Burgess (GA) some good opportunities to get a few more goals and brought it back within the last few minutes of the game.

SimplyAces got off to a flying start with some accurate shooting from GS Cathy Loveridge and finished the first quarter leading by 18 goals. During the second quarter ADN2 started to find a rhythm and found a way past SimplyAces tall defense into their shooters. Both teams were fielding new players and it didn't take long for them to gel. There was a great battle in centre court between the two players of the match; SimplyACES's WA Andrea Westley and ADN2' WD Helen Lewis, both made key turnovers at crucial moments in the game. During the second half changes were made and ADN2 pulled back some goals, however SimplyACES were too far ahead and ADN2 were unlucky not to take away half points from the game.

12 September 2013 @ 7:00pm

KWD vs Eclipse BOX-IT (33-39)

A fast paced match saw KWD leading in the first quarter. FMBoxit had a change of shooters in the second quarter and brought on experienced players who closed down the gap and brought them back into the game. KWD's new temporary defence Cerrie Perrett and new signing Nat Barnes instantly gelled despite being the first time they had played together. They hit the ground running in their first game against last years Div 1 winner's shooter Bev king, who gave her team the advantage back with some accurate shots. The final quarter was still being played at a fast pace. KWD 's shooters pulled back the score as their confidence grew. Lynne Archer's shot some beautiful long range goals, even when under pressure from a brilliant FMB defence. It was too little too late though as FMB took this excellent competitive first match.
